Not one of us was born for a life of smallness. Our lives do not come with a pre-set glass ceiling which dictate the limit of our success.
Sometimes people fall into, and then get trapped in a rut. And when they do then getting beyond what was achieved yesterday doesn’t seem possible, whilst going beyond previous levels of achievement doesn’t occur to them.
How Do You Keep Out Of The Rut?
Each and every day, do what you know you must do, but are scared of. And look for the little things here: the difficult telephone call and settling down to a tricky report. That’s how you grow, build yourself and access more of the greatness within you.
Take heed of the old English saying “man cannot discover new oceans unless he has the courage to lose sight of the shore”.
The more you operate out on the edges of your limits and take intelligent risks, the wider your limits will expand. The more you leave your comfort zone, the bigger your comfort zone will grow. I always like to think of the comfort zone as being like an onion, with us sat in the middle. Every day you dip your toe into the next layer out until after a few days you are now settled down and comfy in your new home. And on you go, layer by layer, stretching and relaxing into your new zone.
So, get out of your comfort zone, no one but you is keeping you there. Get over yourself, change your habits and raise your standards. Challenge your limiting beliefs, your personal status quo. Find a way to do more today than you did yesterday, it only needs to be 1% more to make a difference.
“Be yourself. Everyone else is taken.” Oscar Wilde
