I was recently listening to a training audio CD on Multi-level Marketing, which had been recommended to me, and the person giving the training made a point that I thought was worth us all considering. He was ex-forces and had been a member of the Elite forces in the US Navy.
In the training he was talking about taking responsibility for what you teach people and the consequences that are associated with that. He used an analogy which as service personnel we can possibly all relate to.
In the military they take a new recruit and teach him how to shoot a gun and hit his target. But not just how to shoot a gun but how to take it to pieces and put it back together whilst blindfolded and in under a minute.
But the military does not take responsibility for the dead person at the other end of the gun. Nor does the military take responsibility for the mental health issues the recruit may have because of the dead men at the other end of the gun.
I thought it was such a good point, to fully consider all the implications of what you do has on other people. Taking responsibility for the outcomes will ensure you are being ethical in all that you do.
