After leaving the armed forces, getting ahead in business can be made easier if you understand the way people lead their lives according to their mindset programming.
For example, the majority of armed forces personnel are likely to place a high value on DUTY. This generally means obeying the rules; service first and the rewards will come later. This is the way you will lead your life.
If you understand that different people operate at different value levels than you, in other words they come from a different pattern, then you can rocket forward with your business.
For example, most of us who are ex-armed forces, know that a good soldier, sailor or airman is always 10 minutes early for parade. This is what duty requires, obeying the rules.
I remember being horrified when I turned up for my first business meeting and found I was the only one on time, some people arrived over half-an-hour late. But the thing I found hardest to get to grips with about this, was that everyone else took it as the norm!
This was just me thinking in my values level and the chances are that if you spent any amount of time in the armed forces, you are probably of a similar mindset to me. This sort of rigid thinking will put unnecessary obstacles in your way if you are trying to get on in business.
But the good news is that once you understand the different values levels that people operate at, and at what level you are at, you can adapt the way you do things to make life easier as you transition into civvy street.
