How Much Do We Really Know?

Despite what we may think and tell ourselves, we don’t know much.  And if that wasn’t bad enough, there is a lot of information out there that we don’t clearly understand.

Even so, when we get to grips with the idea that we have big holes in our knowledge things become easier.  There is so much stuff that we can now go and find out,  knowledge to be gained, creating and finding new or better of ways of doing things.  Better still, we are in the perfect age to do this because in our society, which is so fast paced, we can quickly learn that yesterdays way of doing things was not the best or worse was just plain wrong.

So what we don’t know could be the most important thing we need to improve our business.  We just need to start thinking about our limitations and where we are lacking in knowledge.

This involves a lot of soul searching, and we do need to be honest with ourselves, this is not the time to be kidding ourselves, it will be worth it because we will get the true picture.  Be able to see clearly the areas where we need to focus, then we can realign our goals and recognise the best opportunities to drive our business forward.

So just ask yourself the questions:

• What don’t I know that if I got it would move me forwards?
• How can I rectify this and use it to move me or my business forward?

When we can truthfully answer these questions, we will be in the perfect position.  Because thanks to the information super highway and all the technologies that have spawned from or through it, we can fill these holes in our knowledge base quickly, cheaply and relatively easily.

So be honest, admit what you don’t know, then just go out and start filling the blanks!  Both, you and your business will benefit.
