Do you remember when as a kid you would go scrumping, climb over that fence in the neighbourhood, you know the one with the fruit trees the other side, then pinch as many as you could in the time that you dared stay there? Then back over the fence and off down the street to swap fruit and tales with your friends.
Well that was you getting outside of your comfort zone; it didn’t feel 100% right, in fact, you knew it was wrong, heart pounding, eyes wide, sweating, constantly looking to see if anyone was watching.
This is the feeling you need to be achieving if you want to change things in your life or business. It’s that feeling of ‘everyone is looking at me’, ‘am I doing something wrong?’ or ‘this is just plain uncomfortable’. That means that things are moving forward, it’s pushing your personal boundaries, testing you and making your comfort zone bigger.
To quote W L Bateman “If you keep on doing what you’ve always done, you’ll keep on getting what you’ve always got.” Or to put it another way you want something different, then you’ve got to get out of your comfort zone, there is no choice.
Just bear in mind that its OK to be scared, its natural, just don’t let it stop you from taking action. The sooner you come to terms with the fact that YOU will have to change the way you have always done things, so that things can change and move forward, then the faster you will move. So it really is time to go scrumping!
